Toll security guard arrested on firearm, assault charges

It is reported that about 11 o’clock on Saturday morning the motorist had an argument with a toll collector. During the dispute, security guard intervened and allegedly used his company issued firearm to hit the motorist.

A 50-year-old toll security guard has been arrested on firearm and assault charges following an incident with a motorist at the Portmore toll booth in St Catherine on Saturday.

Norris McLarty of Wareham Road, Kingston 2 has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm, assault at common law and assault occasioning bodily harm.

It is reported that about 11 o’clock on Saturday morning the motorist had an argument with a toll collector.

During the dispute, McLarty intervened and allegedly used his company issued firearm to hit the motorist.

The police were summoned McLarty arrested and charged.

He is to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on April 20.
