Council For Disabled hails digital IDs
The Barbados Council for the Disabled (BCD) says the new digital identification cards will be a lifeline for mentally-challenged people, particularly those house-bound.
BCD operations manager Roseanna Tudor yesterday said: “I think the benefits more outweigh – especially now since COVID-19 we have recognised the need for a lot of online services.
“I think COVID-19 has swayed a lot of persons now more than before in terms of the need for this ID card, because most of the persons who are disabled are recognising that you need to be identified now more than ever because you can’t get out to get the services. So, we have to think about the future.”
She was speaking during a break at the Barbados Association of Non-Governmental Organisations’ (BANGO) NGO Conference and Expo on Mobilising and Connecting Barbadian Non-profits to Build Resilience held at Infinity On The Beach Hotel in St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church. (SNR)
