One of three people wanted in Antigua for various crimes have surrendered to police.
Shakema Charles, who was wanted in connection with alleged forgery charges surrendered on Monday reportedly around the same time the island’s police chief told media operatives his officers simply had no viable leads on finding the other two individuals evading the law.
“I don’t know where they are” acting Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney said in a press conference at police headquarters on Monday.
Calvin “Burger” James and Anthony “Thug life” Govia both continue to elude police. James is wanted for double murder since October 2018, while Govia is being sought for robbery since June 2018.
In December Antigua police reiterated its call for the surrender of Shakema Charles, the girlfriend of suspected passport forger Ray John – an Assistant Superintendent of Police.
John is presently on suspension as police continue to investigate the matter. His mother, Yvonne Nickie, was also investigated for possible connection to the alleged crime.
John allegedly stole stealing over 50 multi-layered infilling sheets and one multi-layered infixing patch worth over EC$21,000, from the Antigua and Barbuda Passport Office.
Regional governments have been alerted to be on the lookout for both “Burger” and “Thug life”.
